A Balmy Nineteen Degrees

This morning after church, we looked at the thermometer, decided it was probably as warm as it would be getting this week (we're expecting highs of zero midweek--yuck!) and that it would be a good day for Annie to play while Daddy shoveled. So, we got all bundled up and headed outside. One of Annie's favorite things to do outside is simply walk on the snow and hear it crunch, but today she also thought it was pretty cool to make snow angels and to ride down the sidewalk on a sled! We also ventured into the backyard where Annie decided it'd be fun to go down her slide into the snow--when she'd get to the bottom, she'd declare "stuck" (it's hard to move when you're so bundled up) and then Mommy or Daddy would help her get back to the top. I think she would have been content to play out there for hours, but we finally brought her in and after we were all unbundled, she was fascinated by how cold all of our cheeks were and spent a bit of time holding our faces in her hands and declaring them cold.

Annie's always been a big fan of bath time, and is enjoying the play part of it more and more, especially when it comes to bubbles. She also got some bath markers in her stocking and has had fun coloring with them, and naming colors in general.
She also sings along with us to the "ABC's" (some parts are more clear than others, she seems to love the letter "C"), and is becoming quite the counter. Sometimes we skip a few number here and there "1,2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" is a favorite sequence, but she's getting more right daily. Needless to say, we think she's a pretty bright little girl.

Here's another picture from our trip--walking around Salzburg on our first day there.

Isn't it crazy when nineteen degrees is warm? My girls went off to school in -20 degree weather last week. Kate (9 yrs. old) was so disappointed that they weren't allowed to go outside for recess all week.
