September was a good, full month for us. Back-to-school things kept us all busy. Life for Eric was at work was full, I started a part-time job as Coordinator of Children's Ministries at our church, Annie went back to school and started dance class, Siri went back to music class. Due to my new job, the girls have started spending one day a week with a woman from church. All of these things have gone smoothly, and in the midst of it, we've been trying to make the most of moments together and enjoy the beginning of fall. We enjoyed a weekend with my sister and her family as we ran our second 5K together. It's a great run, through the a beautiful part of Minneapolis--right on the river--and many people run in costumes. This year, we dressed as the Peanuts gang. We were all pretty happy with how the costumes came together (and Eric now has the privilege of always getting to be our artist for such things--aren't his masks impressive?) and had a great time on a beautiful day. Siri won't let me remove the Snoopy ears from her knit cap, she is so fond of it.

Our Siri girl is seeming so big. She talks about everything, it seems there is no word or song that she doesn't know. I love to watch her problem solve, she especially amazes me as she puts together puzzles. She refuses Annie's suggestions to do puzzles by putting the frame together and then filling in the middle. Instead, she quite intentionally picks the middle piece of the puzzle, and then works her way out--carefully choosing pieces to complete the pictures she sees. It really amazes me. In the last few weeks she has perfected jumping and is quite proud of herself. She continues to polish her sense of humor, and loves to make people, especially Annie, laugh. She loves to play with words and lyrics especially, tonight singing "Yellow Submarine" but substituting different colors and drinks for yellow. She continued with it as long as it was making Annie smile. She loves to take care of her dolls and stuffed animals, and is constantly putting them to bed, rocking them, feeding them, etc. She also loves to pretend to be a baby--human, monkey, dog...She continues to be mellow, but is definitely two, and is asserting her independence.

Annie is seeming so old to me. Looking back at where she was at the beginning of last year to now...Wow. One major difference is her interest in social
aspects of life. Last year, when you'd ask about her day at preschool, she would tell a lot about the activities. This year, it's about who she is interacting with. We hear many stories that begin with "my friend..." She loves princesses, fairies, and unicorns. She LOVES dance class, and seems a natural. She is curious about everything, especially space. On the way to school this morning, she kept repeating, "I just can't believe the sun is a star..." She loves to practice sewing, to help with household chores, to take care of Siri.

| Annie's first day of school |

One of the hardest things about the start of the school year, is that the girls have become such good pals. Siri has missed Annie a lot, and each day when we pick up Annie from school, Siri goes immediately to Annie and gives her a big hug saying "sisters, sisters, sisters..." They love to play dance class, with Annie as the teacher. They do puzzles, color, dance, sing, tell stories, and do a great deal of make believe together. It is a joy to watch!

| Last weekend, I did a 10K with my friends Emily and Di, here we are afterwards on the steps of the Capitol. The 10K was one of the events of the big Twin Cities Marathon weekend, it was fun to be a part of all of the festivities for a bit of it! |
