| Our one noticeable snow for the season |
Advent went by in a blur, between holiday celebrations with family and friends, the church Christmas Pageant, and preparing for time away, it sometimes was a struggle to celebrate little moments, and find the time for reflection we desire. Thank goodness for little girls, their need to keep rhythm in our days, their wonder at everything, and their excitement kept us grounded and focused. It was a delight to watch them thrill at preparing gifts for each other, friends, and neighbors. We loved having them join us in decorating, singing, celebrating...
Some of my favorite memories from the season include:
-starting our first real chapter book with Annie, wonderfully Little House in the Big Woods, we plowed right through it, and we've begun Little House on the Prairie
-baking and decorating countless cookies together, and watching them very deliberately and thoughtfully plan which friend got which cookie
-watching Annie participate in the the Christmas Pageant, belting out the first words of "Away in the Manger"
-listening to the girls sing Christmas songs together, particularly "Away in the Manger" and "Jingle Bells"
-hearing them (particularly 2 year old Siri) recite "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" better than most adults I know
-overhearing countless renditions of the Christmas story, acted out by our nativity set, supported by Hello Kitty, fairy barbies, and whatever other dolls were around at the moment
-watching their excitement at St. Lucia day, eager to get up, dress up and wake-up Daddy
