To Iowa

Our week following South Dakota was a bit rough, both girls were sick, Annie with some pretty nasty mouth sores which made eating miserable for her. Needless to say, we spent lots of time being mellow and cuddling and making smoothies. By the end of the week, we were all doing better, so packed up the car and headed to Iowa City.

Our good friends, Di, Tom, Kaj and Leif moved there a couple months ago (after five years in Thailand), and we enjoyed a weekend at their new home. One of the highlights for Annie was visiting the Iowa City Fire Department. We were walking by after a visit to the Farmer's Market and the pedestrian mall, and a "fire man lady" invited her in, showed us the trucks, and gave Annie a helmet which she's worn almost every day since.

We celebrated Kaj's third birthday, went on walks, played on their swings, and had a wonderful time. We also met up with Ella and Emily whose parents live in Iowa City. We caravaned on the way home, and had fun taking a break at a park with them.

Annie and Siri were great little travelers, five states in the last four months is a lot for them to handle, and we were happy to be home, and have been happy to share little corners of the world with them.
